What is the CCI?
The CCI (Bank Identification Code) is a unique number that identifies each bank account in Chile in a standardized way. It is mainly used for electronic transfers between different banks in the country.
Structure of the CCI:
- Bank Code: 2 digits identifying the bank
- Branch Number: 4 digits identifying the specific branch
- Account Type: 2 digits indicating the type of bank account
- Check Digit: 1 digit calculated with Modulo 11 algorithm
Validation Algorithm (Modulo 11):
- Multiply the first 8 digits by factors (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 2, 3)
- Sum all products
- Calculate modulo 11 of the sum
- Subtract the result from 11
- If result is 11 → digit = 0
- If result is 10 → digit = K (not common in CCI)
- In other cases → digit = result
What is the CCI used for?
- • Electronic transfers between banks
- • Payment of services and bills
- • Automatic debits
- • Receipt of payments and payrolls
- • Digital banking operations
