What is Card Validation?
Card validation uses the Luhn algorithm, a mathematical formula to verify the integrity of identification numbers, created by Hans Peter Luhn of IBM in 1954.
Luhn Algorithm:
- Double every second digit from the right
- If the result is greater than 9, sum the digits
- Sum all digits (modified and original)
- If the total is a multiple of 10, the number is valid
